We loved to see all of your posts... seeing your experience through your eyes is the essence of the Tulo Centre's mission.

We are pleased to announce that Tania Solonas of McLeod Lake Indian Band won the August draw and an Apple TV is her prize! Congratulations Tania!

"I am a mother of a beautiful eight year old, named Rhiannon Raine.  We live on IR#1 McLeod Lake, which has a total population of 100.  I have worked as the Land Management Clerk for the McLeod Lake Indian Band since February 2015.

I absolutely love working for our Community being an active steward of the land.
I have been taking First Nations Tax Administration through the Tulo Centre of Indigenous Economics and Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in Kamloops, BC since October 2015.  I have accessed a bursary program from the First Nations Tax Commission to help fund this.

I absolutely love the curriculum, and how each course is geared towards real-world activities that will be happening on our reserve.  I find them useful to my work load and know that in working with our Economic Development team on future projects that the knowledge gained will help our Nation move ahead in a positive manner.  I definitely recommend this course for First Nations staff that are working in Land Management and Tax Administration.

The Land Management department has been running according to our ‘MLIB Land Code, November 1st, 2002’, to which we signed our ‘MLIB Treaty 8 Adhesion & Settlement Agreement, March 27th, 2000’.  We hold approximately 49,536 acres of reserve land with 22 registered to date."

Thank you Tania!
